Official Age Calculation System
Understanding how BAI officially calculates player age.
📅 January 1st Rule
BAI strictly calculates player age based on the 1st January of the calendar year of the application or tournament.
Example:
- If a player was born on August 15, 2010
- For tournaments in 2024, the player's sporting age is calculated as of January 1, 2024
- Since the player turned 13 in 2023, they become eligible for Under-15 in 2024

⚖️ Underage & Overage Rules
BAI aims to maintain a level playing field among players with similar physical development.
- Players must compete only in their verified age category
- Overage participation is treated very seriously
- Officials or parents may file complaints against suspicious cases
🚨 Age Fraud Rules
BAI follows a strict zero-tolerance policy against age fraud.
- Manipulating DOB records is considered cheating
- Fraud investigations may begin anytime
- IDs may be temporarily frozen during investigations
Verification Procedures
Local Verification
Parents submit forms, birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, and school records to District or State Associations.
State & National Verification
State units authenticate documents and forward records to the central BAI office.
ID Issuance
Approved players receive digital Player Identity Cards containing QR-code-based encrypted information.
🛡️ Voluntary Age Rectification Scheme (VARS)
BAI provides a 20-day VARS window allowing parents to voluntarily correct incorrect age records.
- Players cannot participate during VARS correction period
- Parents may submit corrected records without facing maximum penalties
- Repeat violations after VARS may lead to harsher punishments
Penalties and Bans
2-Year Ban
Nationwide tournament suspension for proven age fraud.
Loss of Achievements
Rankings, medals, sponsorships, and prizes may be cancelled.
Permanent Junior Ban
Players may become eligible only for Senior categories after punishment.
5-Year Ban
Repeat offenders after VARS correction may face 5-year suspensions.

📢 Official Complaints
- Parents or players may file formal complaints during tournaments
- Complaint filing requires Rs 5000 protest fee
- Fee may be refunded if complaint is proven true
🔍 Suo Moto Investigations
- BAI Age Fraud Committee may begin investigations independently
- Suspicious players may be temporarily suspended
- Parents may receive 15 days to prove authenticity
🚨 Delayed Registration Rules
Delayed registration occurs when a birth certificate was issued more than one year after the child was born.
- Automatically classified as Case Types B-1 or B-2
- Mandatory medical age estimation may apply
- Additional supporting documents become compulsory
- Hospital discharge reports may be required
- Vaccination records and sibling certificates may be required
- Parents Aadhaar cards may be required
⚠️ Important Warnings for Parents & Coaches
- Submitting fake birth certificates may lead to FIR and criminal proceedings
- Never crop or photoshop uploaded documents
- Visible borders are mandatory during uploads
- Complete school history from KG to current grade may be required
- Document mismatches may trigger investigations and delays
